  • snake boys adopt girl who feeds them
  • girl is taken to snake boys' mom's place but messes up feeding all the other snakes
  • girl is gracious with only half the jewels
  • given the rest and king is tricked into adopting girl as a daughter

  • the one with the girl who loves the hermit so much that its impossible for him to die
  • next one
  • a brahman who lives upon charity is a greedy asshole and won't share cakes with his wiffe and two daughters even though his wife is the one who made the cakes
  • wife can't refuse her daughters and gives them cakes, father is resolved to abandon them
  • father takes them into the woods, fakes his death while they nap, then leaves them to die
  • tree opens up and saves them
  • they find ladies worship and the lake dries up because they weren't sincere enough and they apologize with a ring of hay, and the god asks their wish and they wish to live happily and for their father to be rich and have a son
  • they remember their parents after a while
  • their father is renowned to be stupid, but one of the daughters promises if her goes to the king's thing that rewards the smartest brahman he could win half the knigdom
  • he does but when he leaves the castle he forgets all the knowledge an the gate keeper stumps him and laughs at him
  • hes gonna get rid of the daughters again
  • daughters marry a ministers and a prince but princess stops worshipping and is called a witch because every dies or burns around her while ministers wife continues to worship and is heralded as spring incarnate
  • father arranges match fr son but son forgets nutcracker so father sends barber home but wife is worshiping like daughters and barber returns empty handed and blames wife and so father goes home and smashes worship water jar and his problems start
  • wedding party is beat to shit by Itu himself and only the son survives and he goes to marry the girl without telling his father that he lived
  • father goes to spring and she takes good care of him because she is wonderful
  • she sends him home with great riches but hes an ass so his bearers set him down and he is robbed
  • wife is sent to collect riches and now that she is not worshipping Itu she is arrogant
  • she rolls off her thing and busts her ass
  • Rama gets her sister to worship Itu again and her prince's fortune returns
  • rama gets her moher to worship Itu again and her father's fortune returns and her son returns home

Hi, my name is Rachel, and I'm an English major. (pause for "Hi, Rachel.") It has been two weeks since someone rolled their eyes and/or cringed at my major. I especially recommend Three Dark Crowns, my most recent read; the trilogy that begins with A Court of Thorns and Roses, one of my all time favorites; and the Infernal Devices trilogy, which ripped my heart out and still hasn't given a sizable chunk of it back. Week 11 Storytelling: Rain

It had been 20 generations since it rained. Around The Mountain, next to a mountain stream, the last of humanity clung to life. They grew their food and kept their records and moved along one day at a time. Many of them were barren, and so children were surrounded by great celebration. There was one couple who were blessed with a great many children: eight, to be exact. However, most of their children died. Only two of their boys survived to reach adolescence. Their eighth son, Krishnu, was very respected in their community. When he was young, all the women fawned over him. As he grew and proved himself an excellent farmer and explorer, the men lauded him. He led expeditions further and further into the forgotten world, exploring caves and palaces, looking for remnants of the past, trying to find something their careful historical records may have missed.
